I teach a variety of needlework/quilting classes and workshops featuring both hand and machine techniques. Half day classes, one-day classes and one, two and three day workshops are included. These classes and workshops can be tailored to individual situations and time constraints.

Classes and Workshops

"Basic Hand Piecing" A beginning class in hand piecing simple blocks using both straight and curved seams.

 

"Improving the Hand Quilting Stitch" Designed for any level quilter who would like to improve her hand quilting stitch.

 

"Beginning Hand Applique" Several applique techniques are taught including direct applique, freezer paper applique, reverse applique and needleturn applique.

 

"Machine Quilting Techniques" Instruction and practice in using the sewing machine to quilt a project. Tips and shortcuts are discussed.

 

"Bargello Quilts" Designed for beginners in the Bargello technique, this class includes a simple project.

 

"Watercolor Quilts" Any level quilter may participate in this class with design and use of color emphasized.

 

"Beautiful Bindings – Finish With a Flourish" Different types of binding techniques are taught in order to make this essential part of quilts easier and more attractive.

 

"Creative Labels" Includes distinctive ways to document your quilt.

 

"What is the Judge Looking For?" Quilts are examined and suggestions are given for improving an entrant’s chances for winning a prize in a judged show.

 

"Crazy Stitches – Embroidery for Crazy Quilts" The history of Crazy Quilts is discussed and stitches and composite stitches are taught.
